My mom and I took these photos over the weekend for a little interview that’s going into the local paper’s column on area bloggers. We found these flowers while driving by a very familiar road earlier last week and they perfectly matched the embroidery on this summer dress I bought a few years ago. Funny how things just come together, isn’t it?
I remember the last time I wore this dress for photos, back in 2011. With all the changes I’ve been trying to make this summer, it was really poignant to look back at that post and realize how much I’ve already changed in the past two years—inside and out. We take steps forward and sometimes we take steps back. And while it can be frustrating to realize that I’m not as far along as I’d hope to be by this point, I’m grateful for the reminder that I have grown, and I’m excited for the opportunity to make more positive changes. Life really is a constant journey.
And speaking of summer dresses and making changes, have any of you seen the movie Summer Magic? It’s a 1963 Disney film starring Haley Mills and Burl Ives that is just perfection. I think it really touches on the idea of accepting changing circumstances as well as changes within others, which can be pretty tough when it means having to give someone a second (or third!) chance. Sometimes what we think we want or need isn’t what’s meant to be, and often times a better fit is right around the corner. Anyway, check it out for some lighthearted fun if you’re in the mood!
