Exciting news! In March my Instagram account (@offswitchmag) hit 1,000 followers. Yay! It’s been about a year since I got my iPhone and downloaded the IG app, so reaching my first thousand is a very exciting marker for me. Thanks to everyone who has added me to their feed!

Also, I’m noticing brighter colors popping up when I scroll through my most recent photos. This can only mean one thing: warmer weather is coming! As we make our way into April (my birthday month!) I’m really looking forward to shedding my winter coat and planning adventures with friends. Cheers!

And we’re back with Part 2! All I’ll say about these is that they were a combination of luck and the beauty of a self-timer Polaroid camera. So fun. You can see the digital photos from this day in Part 1.

On Tuesday I shared the Impossible Project photos I had taken of my friend, the orchid. Well that same day I ventured outside with my tripod, cameras, a few props (like a Bell and Howell 8mm video camera), and my sweet* jumping skills. I had a lot of fun experimenting with instant and digital shots, while simultaneously weirding out my neighbors by becoming “that girl who spends two hours taking pictures of herself in the street.” Oh well, I’d rather be a little oddball than lack creativity and imagination. Wouldn’t you?

*My jumping skills are by no means “sweet” — that statement was immersed in a gallon of sarcasm with twenty failed attempts added on top. ;)

A super cute baby orchid I couldn’t pass up while out with my brother last week.

The Impossible Project sent me their beautiful PZ680 film a couple weeks ago, and I’ve just now begun to play with it. The verdict? I’m in love! After shooting with packs and packs of their original Polaroid Spectra film, I was getting tired of the classic warm tones and brown tints they produced. These PZ680 packs are so much more moody and blue — I love their vibe! So far I’ve gone through two and a half packs, and only have about five shots I really like. That’s okay though, it’s all a part of the fun! More polaroids coming soon!

PS: Thanks so much for all the support for our Kickstarter launch yesterday. As of right now we’ve raised over $600 dollars in under 36 hours, yay! Plus, we made the Staff Picks page yesterday! Instagram is by far my favorite and most useful social media outlet for Off Switch. For those of you who don’t know what it is, Instagram is a smart phone app that allows you to create an account, take phone photos of your daily life, and share them with all your followers. In turn, you can view your ever-updated “feed” of photos from those folks whom you follow. People can comment and “like” photos, and it’s just an all around fun time.

After a year on Instagram, I finally decided it would be a good idea to share some of those little square photos here on the blog! I realize many of you have seen them before, but I also know there are quite a few readers who don’t use social media and smart phones (thus the above IG description). So, from here on out I will be posting updates from my Instagram feed as well as folks I love following.
